Before Enrolling Yourself Into an Online Class

Majority of students enrolled in an online course is from humble working class background who want to pursue their education in hope of carrier boost. However, looking at the prevailing hectic work routines for most people it can be a challenging task to coup with an online degree. You might be lured into enrolling by a common myth that these online classes are way easier than their traditional counterparts. This is a total myth, because where such online class do offer time flexibility, they are in certain aspects even more demanding than traditional classes. This is because with shorter semester length and lengthy course, you need to put extra efforts to cover those lengthy classes.

So, before enrolling into an online course, ask yourself if you got adequate time to coup with such hectic schedule and demanding course or not. Else, you might end up searching for a professional “we do your online class” help.

This is the most bizarre aspect about online classes. Most people only join these classes to get any required degree without any real motivation. The only motivation they have is to excel in their carrier and this make them chose subjects which they have no background knowledge.

While you may get admitted in any of your desired subject but an overwhelming majority of such students can’t coup up with technicalities of the subject and end up looking for an online class helper. So, you need to ask yourself if you really want this degree or you just need it as a carrier ladder.

You might think you have the time to take an online course and you might also be motivated enough to take-on the subject technicalities, but you also need to ask yourself if you really can manage such a hectic life style. We mean that you got to be considerate about your family and friends as well.

Hectic work routine is already too demanding for most people to spend quality time with family members and friends. Top it with online course and you will dread for solitary quality moments with your family. This will not only affect your family members or friends, but also you won’t be able to concentrate and end up looking for some professional “pay to take online class” service. Therefore, make sure you have the time to manage your life before getting yourself into this.

Making Online Education Attractive

I am not saying that all adults who were not fully educated are not playing important roles in society. There are very prominent individuals in society who dropped out of school at some level. Bill Gate, Mark Zuckerberg, Oprah Winfrey, for example, at some point dropped out of school. Though this list is not exhaustive, the number of people who dropped out of school or decided not to gain higher education and yet became successful are relatively few. For the majority who dropped out or discontinued education, and could not become successful in their careers, it was because they lacked the knowledge they needed to develop their potential. If you check the history of those who in spite of dropping out or discontinuing schooling have become successful, you would find that appeared to have found their life’s purpose and so pursued those goals and, more importantly, they received some kind of education later.

Education as we all know is a life-long activity. At any point in time, whether you dropped out of school or got honors at your graduation, you would need education. The school dropout who has found himself a vocation or gained employment needs education so he/she can be more productive, the dropout who has realized the need to school but has ‘grown past school going age’ and desires to school obviously needs education, managers as well as employees need further education in order to keep pace with today’s rapidly changing world and gain increased wages and status respectively. Somehow, the traditional education dependent society we have created for ourselves and considers the ‘best’, limits our quest for continuing education. For many people, formal education ended the day they dropped out or graduated from High School, College or University, even though, technology makes it possible for us to sit in our houses and still get quality education.

When technology – computers and internet connectivity – replaced physical classrooms and made it possible to study by distance in real time, it appeared the issue of continuous education for everyone, including the dropout and the working class have been solved. It appeared, and still does, that now the teacher need not leave his students, apply for study-leave or leave of absence to pursue further education. It appeared the fifty-year-old woman who dropped out of school several years ago could now school from home and it appeared the father could learn what his daughter is learning at College using the same device he uses to call her. That is what it appeared. Those who dropped out of school due to issues of finance and have not since had a breakthrough would not benefit, and those who have the money would not want to put their money into a certificate employers and academicians alike would frown upon. So little appear to have changed for these two groups of people, though online Colleges and Universities abound.

Two prime issues are to blame. First, online education is too expensive for the target group of learners and second, there is the perception that online Colleges and Universities do not provide holistic education like the traditional Colleges and Universities. As indicated by Ed Vosganian – founder and CEO of College Funding 123, the cost of on-campus University for undergraduate is estimated at 42,000 dollars while for the same group it cost around 21,000 dollars for online universities. By comparison we would say that it cost far less to study via online. But we need not lose sight of those who mostly enroll in online University. It is those in the middle and lower classes who opt for online universities. They include; the employee who has sacrificed pleasure for higher qualification in return for better wages, the unemployed who wants to gain employable skills, the dropout who wants to get back to school in the hope that there will be a brighter future, and the people living in the remote part of the world, especially in the developing world, who don’t even have the money to pay fees and so would have to learn and work simultaneously. To these 21,000 dollars is money so huge, it is very difficult to raise. There are people of the higher income class who enroll in online universities, but online learning is not popular among these due to low prestige and the myths associated with online education. The online institutions will tell you, they would not put anything on your certificate to show that you received a non-traditional education. This kind of advert speaks of how society values online education. Online education is considered a cheap way of getting ‘watered down’ education. Online Colleges and Universities were until recently considered diploma mills. This perception still exists, though empirical evidence tells us there is no disparity in quality of students from traditional Colleges and Universities on one hand and online Colleges and Universities on the other. The online Universities and Colleges are doing their best to make online learning prestigious and bring down study cost, but they cannot do it alone. With government intervention online learning can become prestigious and lower and middle class friendly.

Government should provide a national framework for online education, subsidize accreditation, and grant scholarships and student loans for students in online Colleges and Universities. A national framework to guide the operations of all online colleges and universities should be instituted by the state, through the Department of Education or the relevant government agency. This framework, which would be descriptive and not prescriptive in nature would describe, for example, the minimum courses to be taken at a given level, and the general mode of operation of online universities and colleges without prescribing specific courses or mode of operation. Accreditation is not just laborious for online Colleges and Universities; it is also expensive. This cost is passed to students, souring up program fees. If the government decides to absorb half the cost of accreditation, though there is no guarantee the program fees will be halved, the program fee would be reduced somehow. Lastly, most of the students who opt for online colleges and universities do not receive scholarships and student loans from the state. Those who receive something do not get huge scholarships and student loans like their counterparts in traditional Colleges and Universities. Government should make scholarships and students loans available to students of online Colleges and Universities just as it does for students in traditional Colleges and Universities.

The ramifications of these interventions would definitely be awesome. Providing a national framework for online education would take away the false negative perception people have about online learning. Many think online learning is easy and also the number of credits taken are far less than those taken in traditional learning settings. This thinking exists because there are some poorly designed online courses in which certificate are awarded after just a couple of assignments have been submitted. Such practices can be stopped, when a national framework is developed and operationalized. A national framework will give credibility to online learning, because a national standard for online would have to be adhered to and so no online college or university can just sell certificate. Subsidizing Accreditation will yield three results. The most obvious is that, it would reduce program fees because amount to pass to the students would be less. Subsidizing accreditation fees would encourage online Colleges and Universities to seek accreditation from accrediting bodies recognize by the Department of Education or the appropriate state agency. Even though accreditation is not compulsory in some parts of the world, like the united states, some occupation that require state licensing would not accept degree from non-accredited Colleges and University. Prospective online learners are, usually, worried about whether the can easily work with their certificates. Government intervention would remove this worry and remove the negative perception people have about online education as well. Government interventions in the form of scholarship and loans would ease the financial burden and make it possible for those who hitherto would not be able to school to do so. In sum, government intervention would go a long way to produce an enlightened society by permitting many people to receive higher education.

Benefits Of eLearning Overshadow The Drawbacks

  • Reduced Cost- eLearning reduces the cost of instructor, room rentals, equipment, travel, meals etc. It just needs a device capable of carrying out the training. Companies with more than thousands of employees can reduce the cost per head for trainings.
  • Flexibility- eLearning can be done in slots as and when it is convenient within the busy schedule of learners. It is not necessary to spare an entire day to attend the training.
  • Mobility- eLearning courses can be accessed on laptops, mobiles and tablets so learning can be done even while on move.
  • Global- Organizations can be assured that their employees will get the same content regardless of their location. eLearning solutions can be delivered with reduced cost to the people located globally.
  • Engagement- eLearning increases engagement through social and collaborative tools which pushes learners towards training and also help learners retain what they have learnt.
  • Expert Knowledge- Good eLearning solutions and LMS ensures expert knowledge is communicated to learners.

As it is universal that everything has its pros and cons, let us look at the flip side of eLearning courses and see what are the most common disadvantages it carries along with it.

  • Lack of Control- Though self-paced learning is an advantage but learners with low motivation might lag behind the others if there are no deadlines to complete the eLearning courses. So it totally depends on different people at different stages of learning.
  • Learning Approach– eLearning might not be a good experience for some learners specially activists and pragmatists as they will not enjoy it. Different learners have different preferences like images, words, text, videos etc. So it is difficult to make learning enjoyable for every learner.
  • Technology Issues– eLearning is totally dependable on compatible device like laptop, tablet or desktop. And this brings some sort of risk for both learners and organizations. So, all requirements need to be fulfilled beforehand to support eLearning in order to avoid technical issues.

Why Is Online Education Important?

Wide Range of Choices

It is only in online education where you can choose from a wide range of schools without being limited by physical distance or boundaries. You are able to choose education programs some of which cannot be available in your area. Some students are forced to take majors in courses that they would not have otherwise liked because their colleges do not offer what they would have liked. In other instances, some students live in rural areas far away from colleges of choice. With online education, you are able to take the major that you want and attend college of your choice without major relocations.

Remember that you need not go for expensive programs. This is because you are given an opportunity to choose what suits your budget. Additionally, online programs are generally cheaper when compared to the traditional class-based programs.

Flexibility

Online education offers flexibility that allows both the student and the instructor to meet when time or schedule allows best for them. Whether you are a busy working-cum-schooling individual that does not have time for classes during the day, you are easily accommodated in an online education program. Additionally in the global village, there are differences in time because we are not all in the same time zone. Taking an online education program that suits your schedule is made possible by the differences in time.

It is good to realize that students do not necessarily learn at the same pace. Some feel that the instructions are too fast and overwhelming while others feel that some students are dragging them behind. With online education, there is flexibility in pace and time. You can choose an online program that will suit your pace.

Online Education Offers Excellent Networking Opportunities

Unlike what many would want to believe, online education offers some of the best opportunities to meet with people from around the world. Sharing an online class will make you get important contacts and academic references some of which will help you in your future career. In order to understand this better, one only needs to look at how many friends and followers that one has gathered through online platforms. Online schools are no different.

Online Statistics Tools for Students

SPSS

Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) is a software that has been launched by the IBM. This data is useful for the students as it allows them to do data entry and create various tables along with graphs to analyse the data thoroughly. This software is much applicable to the social sciences and buzz world, where the data to be managed, is move and calculations are lengthy. It can be easily installed on a computer running any version of Windows as well as for desktops having an open source operating system. The data is entered through the worksheet, and the various options are present to work on the data. For example, under the data option, you will have a list that includes multiple formats of searching, sorting and arranging it. Also, there is a choice of graphs that allows the user to plot graphs of different types depending upon the requirement of data. It is a Graphical User Interface (GUI), and no written commands are required. The only selection has to be made.

Stata

Stata is statistical analysis software developed in 1982 by StataCorp LP. Apart from data analysis, the software embeds a broad range of services like data management, plotting graphs, provides exact case-control statistics and various tests along with their predictions. This a list of the main features of Stata. There is much more to the software which in turn allows the quick processing of the data. Just one click and the data entered in the worksheet gets converted into a graph or a chart depending upon the requirement of the calculation. The software is available for almost all versions of various operating systems and thus is considered to be flexible. Varying versions of the software is available for ever-changing needs of the users. For example, some might use Stata/SE for large data sets while some of the users might be interested in using it for multiprocessor computers called Stata/MP. Thus, students can buy the version depending on their needs and data analysis.

MS Excel

Microsoft Excel is a program that contains spreadsheets allowing the users to enter numerical values and formulae for calculations. This software is marked as highly useful for statistical calculations. It includes a list of methods and thus allows the users to just select the row and formula. There might be some methods that are no included in the list, but they can be appended manually by the user. Here is an additional feature which makes it all the more suitable for the users. It contains a list of different graphs that can be included in the calculation process making it easy for the user to display the results. In addition to the basic designs, there are a lot of new types of graphs included in the list. The pages are called spreadsheets and are in a tabular format. The users can work simultaneously on different sheets, and the collection of sheets is known as a work book. The users have to install the entire package of Microsoft Office for Excel to work properly. It is mainly available for Windows users.

Minitab 17

Here is one of the leading statistical software which was established in the year 1972. It is one of the most widely used software because all the great companies and colleges are using it. R software

R is a termed as an open source programming language along with being software. It is specially designed for the statistical analysis of data along with providing graphical interpretations that are supported by R foundations only. It was developed with the motive of providing free availability of statistical analysis tool. It is an open source language and software that means it can be used to develop statistical tools along with providing them itself. It is mainly a command based software and less of GUI that makes it a bit tough to use. Thus, it is less popular these days as long codes are required to execute the statistical analysis and consumes time. However, for those who have a passion for programming in statistics, R acts as a blessing in disguise. It is possible for them to play with numbers and figures.

Multimedia Patient Education

Among the essential elements of patient education develops skills, responsibility and group effort: patients should know when, how and what to do should include changing the way of life and every member of the medical team of the patient. Since technology has given us new ways of delivering education to patients and health care providers, the availability of resources, formats and techniques have increased dramatically.

Choosing the right resources and making the most of the limited educational budgets are becoming more and more difficult. Education is playing an increasingly important role in the care of patients and their families are faced with many difficult decisions that could potentially have a major impact on their health and quality of life.

The multimedia is better than no training or education, given as part of routine clinical care to improve the knowledge of the patient. There is great variation in the results from six studies that compared the multimedia training usual care or no training. But all but one of the six studies favored multimedia training. We also found that multimedia education is superior to usual care or no training to improve levels. The review also suggested that multimedia is at least as effective as other forms of training, including training or written brief training of health professionals.

Multimedia program to educate patients about medicines:

  • Multimedia learning about medicine is more effective than usual care (non-standardized education of health professionals as part of normal clinical care) or no education, improvement, and acquisition of knowledge and skills.
  • Multimedia training for at least another form of education, training, and education are included in the health care professional is the same as written. However, this finding is based on the often low-quality evidence from a small number of attempts.
  • Multimedia education about drugs can, therefore, be considered as a supplement to conventional therapy, but there is insufficient evidence to recommend it as a substitute for a written instruction or training health worker.
  • Multimedia education can be considered as a supplement to conventional treatment, but there is insufficient evidence to recommend it as a substitute for a written instruction or training health worker.
  • Multimedia training can be considered as an alternative to the training of health care workers, especially in areas where it is not possible to provide detailed training health worker.

Traditional Learning Approach With Virtual Classrooms

  • Accessibility

It is one of the significant features to consider as educators always want that every learner should have equal access to e-courses. Another benefit of ensuring that virtual classroom is accessible include delivery of varied learning styles, aligned to different learning needs.

  • Archiving

With evolution of technology, the number of learners across the globe has also increased. Ability to archive individual learning programs is helpful for employees who were not there during the live sessions. It also has an additional benefit for trainers to use training sessions as an evaluative tool to assess employees’ performance at workplace.

  • Technical support

Another major benefit of virtual classrooms is their flexibility to cater to individual learning needs. So, it is important to have access to live support and not forbid learners from attending the session. Learners should be able to get timely support along with the availability of educator.

  • Classroom management tools

For face-to-face interactions or virtual learning environment, classroom management can build or break your learning experience. It is essential to encourage learners, facilitate engagement and boost business growth.

Organizations provide hands-on experience during classes to impart an interactive learning experience, mitigating the costs associated with infrastructure and maintenance. Let us discuss a few tips to prepare learners before delivering virtual classroom session:

  • Immediate engagement

An on-screen activity can be arranged to engage more participants right away. It helps them understand that the program is effective and will enhance their learning experience. For instance, a question can be put on the screen and participants are asked to respond via chat. A slide showing checklist of tasks can be used where participants are asked to complete it.

  • Early messaging

It is always good to send personalized advanced messages before the event starts. Just-in-time reminders help participants get into the mindset of enrolling for any training program.

Benefits of Corporate eLearning Market Trends

Decreased Training Costs

What is the primary benefit of corporate eLearning? Through online corporate training, a company actually gets an opportunity to reduce training costs. How? There wouldn’t be any need for printed training materials or the requirement for on-site facilitators since all the information needed by an employee can be found easily on the online training platform. Moreover, the conservation costs of an online training platform are basic as compared to outmoded face-to-face employee development.

Rapid deployment of content

It is important to note that, online training can be imparted quickly and conveniently. This way, the employees can gain new information or skills almost immediately, without waiting for printed materials. Moreover, it also empowers the organization to simply upload materials for instant access by the employees.

Employees Can Access Information When They Need It

With the availability of online training, the employees have an active and beneficial chance to access important information whenever and wherever they are in need. You can easily keep your employees educated and knowledgeable regarding the company procedures in a flexible manner which eventually results in enhanced customer satisfaction, or call it, enhanced business practices.

Upgraded Knowledge Preservation

What is the need for an interactive learning session? The practice of eLearning allows an employee to gain knowledge in an engaging setup which leads to improved education and skill set preservation. With the offering of interactive, reality-based situations and games, the employees are able to digest the information more strongly. Moreover, this allows them to use the imparted data successfully in their working environment.

Allows Learning at a Decent Pace

It is important to understand that, those employees who acquire access to asynchronous online training possess the ability to move forward at their decided pace. How? They do not have to pace through the content like it is offered in a corporate classroom environment or pushes forward at the speed of their co-workers. These employees are provided an opportunity to gain and fully absorb whatever is being taught thoroughly and then move forward with the online training course.
